SIT-6E pavement sensor test with SCA-DUAL

Qualified-installer test procedure for a SIT-6E pavement sensor connected to the PD Pro control.

This procedure comes from the SCA-DUAL / PD Pro manual. It requires a qualified installer, powered measurements, and supervision because the heaters can activate. Follow the manual’s electrical-safety precautions and keep clear of line-voltage connections.

If paving residue covers the sensing surface, clean it as instructed in the manual. Avoid metallic or coarse abrasives and detergents.

  1. Use a digital voltmeter set to a suitable DC-voltage range. With the negative lead on sensor black and positive on red, the expected supply is 23–28 VDC.
  2. Keep the negative lead on black and move positive to white. With no snow demand, expect 22–28 VDC and both SNOW and HEAT off.
  3. Place a 10-pound bag’s contents of crushed ice over the sensor. Allow enough time for it to cool below approximately 38°F (3.3°C); the manual allows more than 20 minutes and longer if the surface was initially hot.
  4. When the sensor detects cold and moisture, white-to-black voltage should fall below 2 VDC and both SNOW and HEAT should illuminate.

Record the readings. Once testing is complete, disconnect power before restoring connections and covers, then restore the intended hold-on setting. If results differ, contact WarmlyYours Technical Support; do not bypass the sensor as a repair.
